Regular inspection
1. Fence and pen gate:
- Check that the fences and pen doors are secure and not deformed or damaged. Make sure that the bar gate can be opened and closed properly and that the bolts and pins are not loose.
- Observe whether the PVC boards or metal grids of the fences are worn or cracked, and repair or replace them in time.
2. Floor:
- Check whether the plastic manure leakage floor is broken or warped, and make sure that the floor is flat and leaks manure well.
- Observe whether there is any manure residue or blockage in the cracks of the floor, and clean it in time to keep the pen dry.
3. Feeding troughs and water:
- Check whether the feeding troughs are clean, whether the feeding is smooth, and whether there is any blockage or damage.
- Check whether the water pressure and flow rate of the water dispenser are normal to ensure that the pigs can drink at any time.
4. Insulation and ventilation equipment:
- Check whether the heat preservation lamps, warming fans and other equipment are working properly to ensure that the temperature of the pen is appropriate.
- Observe whether the ventilation system is unobstructed, and whether fans, air inlets, water curtains and other equipment are functioning properly.
5. Circuits and wires:
- Check whether all circuits and wires are exposed, aged or damaged to ensure the safety of electricity.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning and disinfection:
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect the nursery pens after each piglet release. Use a high pressure washer to wash the pen, including the floor, fences, feeding troughs, etc.
- After cleaning, disinfect the whole pen using disinfectant at intervals of at least 24 hours or more, then ventilate and dry.
2. Regular maintenance:
- Repair or replace damaged fences, floors, feeding troughs and other components in a timely manner to ensure the integrity and functionality of the pen.
- Inspect and maintain insulation and ventilation equipment to ensure proper functioning.
3. Pen Patrol Management:
- Patrol the pens at least twice a day to observe the health of the pigs and the environmental conditions of the pens to detect and deal with problems in a timely manner.
- Record data on pig inventory, sales, deaths, and culling, as well as the temperature, humidity, and ventilation of the pens.
Through regular inspection and maintenance of the nursery pens, potential problems can be detected and solved in time, providing a safe, comfortable and hygienic growing environment for piglets, thus improving the breeding efficiency and the survival rate of piglets.
